Looking after your jewellery

Jewellery Care

Jewellery is something meaningful and thoughtful

To keep your Chloe Rebecca product looking as good as new, it is important to handle your jewellery with care. You can do this by taking them off before showering, swimming and exercising, as sweat can cause your jewellery to tarnish. It is also making sure that they don’t come into contact with creams and perfumes. Doing this will prolong the quality and protect the durability of our products.

Another way to keep your jewellery in pristine condition is to keep them clean, however you will need to change your cleaning technique for different materials. These include:

 Sterling Silver

  • Can be cleaned with either either a polishing cloth or a jewellery cleansing solution.
  • The best way to keep your sterling silver pieces looking shiny is to wear them! Don’t let them sit in your jewellery box, wearing them will cause friction which slows down tarnishing.
  • However, when you’re not wearing them, keep them in an anti-tarnish bag.
  • Silver is malleable, so don’t be alarmed if it has bent, you can simply just bend it back into shape. This applies when you bend silver ear cuffs to get them on, however we advise you not to bend silver as over time it weakens the jewellery.

Gold plated - 14k and 18k (also applies to gold flushed)

  • Plated pieces need extra love and attention.
  • Gently rub the surface using a soft jewellery cloth to bring back shine. Make sure you do not use a polishing cloth as this will remove the gold plating.
  • Afterwards if you think it is required, you can clean your gold plated pieces with warm, soapy water and leave to soak for a few minutes.
  • Please note that plating will wear off over time, but removing them when swimming, showering, exercising and before applying creams and perfumes will prolong the life of the plating.
  • Although the best way to deal with tarnished pieces is to simply have them re-plated when required.

Pearls

  • Clean pearls with a soft cloth after each wear so that they don’t turn yellow from body oils and perfumes
  • Pearls should never be cleaned with any products or submerged in water as this can damage the pearls
